WINNIPEG, Canada, June 3, 2008.- Canada achieved
their second victory against Puerto Rico. The
Canucks out-gamed the other squad for a win of
3-0. Set scores were 25-14, 25-15, 25-13.
Team Canada was all flames for this first game of
the day. Performing in front of bleachers filled
with school kids, they put up a great show for
their young cheering crowd. The match ended is 63
minutes, sending the kids back on the school
benches for the afternoon!
Dallas Soonias was the star of Canada with 13
attacks and 1 block, for a total of 14 points. His
colleague Nicholas Cundy cumulated 11 points. On
the Costa Rica side, Ulises Maldonado got a total
of 10 points.
“We played very good volleyball and were linking
our actions in a good way. The players subbing
were also always ready to go on the court and did
their job.” declared Glenn Hoag, Team Canada coach
“The result was severe for the other team. They
lost their concentration and missed a lot of
serves”.
The captain of Puerto Rico, Julio Acevedo admitted
the power of Team Canada: “Canada had a nice crowd
cheering and it gave them a lift. They played well
and we did a lot of mistakes. The tournament will
get stronger and we need to be better prepared.” |
